Safeguarding
Child protection and safeguarding procedures are of the utmost importance at Blakeley Heath Primary School.
Child protection is defined as safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children by:
-
Protecting children from maltreatment;
-
Preventing impairment of children’s health or development;
-
Ensuring children grow up in circumstances consistent with the provision of safe and effective care: and
-
Taking action to enable all children to have the best outcomes.
Everyone working in, or for our school, shares the same objective to help keep children and young people safe by contributing to:
-
Providing a safe environment for children and young people to learn in education settings;
-
Identifying children who may be in need of extra help, or are suffering or likely to suffer significant harm, and taking the appropriate action, working with other services as needed.

Operation Encompass
When the police attend incidents of domestic violence or abuse where children are directly or indirectly involved, they notify the designated safeguarding lead in school (Miss Richards and Mrs Hood). This doesn't mean the incident is discussed with the child or parent. We are, however, always available if you wish to discuss anything with us.
Both Miss Richards and Mrs Hood has completed training in order to receive operation encompass alerts.
