Music Provision
At Blakeley Heath, we believe it is important to provide children with as wide a range of opportunities as possible. This allows children to develop confidence with trying new experiences, as well as allowing them to discover things they enjoy and may have a talent in.
Learning to play a musical instrument offers a child the chance to learn a skill which they will have for life. It can also provide enjoyment and social interaction.
As part of our key stage one music curriculum, the children have the opportunity to play a wide range of percussion instruments and use their voice and body as an instrument, clapping and stomping their feet etc.
In key stage two our children learn about musical notes and tuned instruments. We currently learn:
- Recorders in Year 3
- Ukulele in Year 4
- Glockenspiels in Year 5
- Keyboard in Year 6
We also provide the opportunity for additional music tuition for children in key stage 2. They have weekly sessions, during the school day and our provided with opportunities to perform to their peers.
Mr Harvey has been working with Blakeley Heath for a very long time and offers tuition on keyboard and guitar. Please contact office2@blakeleyheath.staffs.sch.uk if you are interested in finding out more.
We have recently started working with Loud Hall Music, who offer sessions on drums, singing, saxophone, flute, trumpet, french horn and ukulele. Please see the letter below for further information.
