Special Educational Needs and Disabilities

At Blakeley, we are a fully inclusive school which provides the best outcomes for all of our pupils. Sometimes pupils need a helping hand through their school journey and we provide targeted support in order for them to achieve their full potential. We provide a wide range of opportunities for our children to learn and develop through individual practical experience, small group intervention and in class support.

OFSTED identified Blakeley as providing ‘good progress’ for pupils with SEN from their own starting points.

The school’s policies set out our aims and provision to ensure that our children have access to all areas of the curriculum and aspects of school life; they also address how we support children’s learning if they are experiencing difficulty. We are committed to early identification of special needs which is fully discussed with parents. The SENCo oversees the provision for children with SEND. This may include additional support in or out of class and an Individual Support Plan (ISP). A wide range of structured programmes are used and advice may be sought from outside agencies to further support children.
